less than polystyrene, the biodegradable chips compress less in mass in the first place. The effect is largely neutral. Evidence of customer usage after switching from polystyrene to biodegradable also supports this fact.

Is GreenFill or ECO FLO a fire hazard?
Biodegradable products are a lower fire risk compared to oil based polystyrenes. GreenFill and ECO FLO do not readily ignite when exposed to a flame. These products char above 200 degrees Celsius and ignite at about 390 degrees Celsius. However, the by-products would be carbon dioxide and water vapour rather than the noxious fumes of polystyrene.

What happens to biodegradable loosefill in humid conditions or if the carton gets wet?
GreenFill and ECO FLO are both humidity stable which means they remain effective in even the most humid conditions. If a carton gets wet, then this will have no effect on the loosefill as the chips have to be saturated before they begin to break down. Before the GreenFill or ECO FLO will have started to biodegrade, the carton would have been saturated and probably disintegrated.

Is GreenFill or ECO FLO safe to eat?
All raw materials used in the manufacture of the products is food grade. However, these products are made in a packaging factory and not a food factory where hygiene standards are far higher.

Is it ethical to use food ingredients for packaging applications?
There is such a surplus of grain that the Government is trying to support farmers by actively looking for non food applications for cereal products. Green Light Products Limited is heading up a research project funded by the Government for such purpose. Green Light uses a fraction of 1% of the total amount of cereal produced in the UK

A lot of grand claims are made about products. How can I be sure that GreenFill and ECO FLO are Biodegradable?
These products have been tested at independent laboratories and have been shown to conform to the international standards for biodegradability.

Does GreenFill or ECO FLO attract rodents?
No, there is little or nothing of value in either product to be attractive to rodents. If rodents are already on the premises, they have been known to nest in all loosefill products including polystyrene. The presence of GreenFill and ECO FLO will not encourage rodents into the warehouse.

The GreenFill and ECO FLO appear to compress more than polystyrene, Can it, therefore, perform as well?
Yes, if not better! The biodegradable products compress around the product being packed. This creates a homogeneous mould around the product. This mould acts as a barrier against the migration of the product to the bottom of the carton, which is so common with polystyrene loosefill. The surrounding GreenFill or ECO FLO chips provide a high degree of shock and impact protection to protect your products in transit.

Does that mean that if I use GreenFill or ECO FLO I will increase the amount of loosefill I need to pack a carton?
No. Even though GreenFill and ECO FLO recover
